Bios

Kristin Campbell, BSc, PT, PhD 

Kristin is a licensed physical therapist and a Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She also an Affiliated Scientist in the Cancer Control Program at the BC Cancer Research Institute.

Her research focus is on the role of exercise in cancer rehabilitation and survivorship has been funded by the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research and Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada and others.  She is the co-lead of the 2019 exercise guidelines for cancer survivors from the American College of Sports Medicine and in 2020 received a Distinguished Achievement Award for Overall Excellence Mid-Career from the Faculty of Medicine at UBC.

She is a member of the Oncology Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.  She is also an associate editor for Physical Therapy, the journal of the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Translational Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine (TJACSM).

 

Professor Anna Campbell MBE

Anna Campbell is Professor in Clinical Exercise Science at Edinburgh Napier University.  For the past 22 years she has worked in the field of exercise oncology and has been instrumental in the implementation of evidence-based exercise programmes for people affected by cancer across UK.

She has published over 50 peer reviewed research papers and three educational book chapters on the subject of cancer and exercise.

As key advisor to Macmillan Cancer Care, she worked on the development of the UK wide MoveMore programmes.

Professor Campbell is Director of CanRehab (www.canrehab.co.uk) – an international provider of training on exercise-based cancer rehabilitation for health professionals and fitness specialists.  She is also chair of the charity CanRehab Trust www.canrehabtrust.org which matches people affected by cancer with cancer exercise qualified instructors and provides remote and face to face exercise programmes.

Anna is part of a small international working group of exercise experts “Moving Through Cancer” responsible for updating the evidence-based exercise prescription guideline for the provision of clinical and community-based exercise programmes for cancer patients and survivors. Finally, Professor Campbell is part of the World health Organisation Cancer Rehabilitation 2030 working group.
