Why would I take a CanRehab course?
There is convincing evidence that exercise and staying active can significantly enhance the quality of life of those affected by cancer at all stages of the cancer trajectory and may reduce / prevent some cancer treatment toxicities. This course has been designed to enable you to acquire and critically review the evidence and current practice whilst developing the skills to evaluate, risk assess, and provide safe effective and individualised exercise programmes specifically for the cancer population.
What does CanRehab Offer?
CanRehab Physiotherapy Course
This course is specifically adapted for all practising physiotherapists. It is delivered over two full days of online synchronous training. The agenda includes principles of exercise physiology and prescription and on successful completion of the assessment, candidates are awarded their CanRehab Certificate along with access to the supported CanRehab Physiotherapy Facebook support group
Revalidation
The need to stay up to date with the latest evidence on safety and guidelines in exercise oncology is important in this rapidly changing field. Thus, Revalidation for those students that have gained either their CanRehab Physiotherapy Certificate or their CanRehab Specialist Instructor qualification more than 3 years ago are advised to undertake this. Provided by an online course to be completed within 90 day of enrolment, it consists of learning modules and a summative MCQ exam .
Revalidation is also essential to be on the CanRehab Trust Register.
CanRehab Specialist Instructor in Cancer and Exercise
Our flagship course is the award winning CanRehab Specialist Exercise Instructor Course. We have trained over 1000 students to provide safe, effective and individualised programmes to clients/ patients at any stage of their cancer journey.
This comprehensive training was originally written for exercise professionals to deliver safe effective and individualised exercise programmes to clients who were living with or beyond a cancer diagnosis. Endorsed by CIMSPA with 10 Points but could also be used towards professional learning. Currently delivered live online over 6 days with a robust assessment at the end to test the students’ knowledge and application. We are privileged to have a tutor team that are all highly skilled specialists in their relevant areas of exercise and oncology.
