As we come to the end of August we thought it was time to update you on our last few months. We’ve been working on some projects as CanRehab goes international (and we’ll let you know more about that soon!), and here is a round up of positive vibes from the summer:

Joe Wicks

At the beginning of August, Professor Campbell took part in “PE with Joe” at Scone Palace and was delighted to meet Joe who was very enthusiastic about the work CanRehab is doing.

Joe is a genuinely lovely person and so passionate about getting everyone active. By kindly promoting CanRehab training company he is helping us to support all fitness instructors and physios to be confident prescribing exercise to cancer patients.

Below is a copy of the video he posted to his 4.5 million followers, which you can view on our Instagram!

Former Student News

Our lovely former student Rebecca Miller sent us a letter saying how much of a positive influence undertaking the CanRehab training has been, not only for developing her business but for the confidence it gave her to help others. We were so pleased to hear about her recent work, including leading a team at the Cancer Research UK Relay for Life. She said:

Our team is called Seahorse Fitness (Rebecca’s PT business), made up of clients, helpers, and some of the Macmillan Move More participants. On the 25th of June, we took part in Relay for Life – Dunbar.  It was the first time the event has taken place in our little town and we hope to make it an annual event – fighting cancer every step. It was a super event and very inclusive. To celebrate, we had a team barbecue at ours a few weeks ago and again, it was great to see so many people together.

Elaine Lennon is the local organiser and a total power house within the community. She worked tirelessly to rally the groups and keep us all motivated.  So far the total raised for CancerResearch is over £62k. Pretty amazing.”

New courses – new funding opportunities

We are very pleased to share the Retrain to Retain scheme – an initiative by CIMSPA funded by SportEngland. Anyone in England who wishes to undertake the CanRehab course can look to see if they’re eligible for funding through the Retrain to Retain Scheme which has been “designed to support everyone working in sport and physical activity in England“. Selected individuals will have 100% of their CanRehab course costs covered. If you live in England and have had your work impacted by Covid-19, you may be eligible. See the website for more details on the eligibility criteria.

We’ve also added a specialist course for physiotherapists, running from October 1st until October 8th. All of our course dates for the rest of 2022 can be seen on our website.
