About the Role
As an Exercise Oncology Specialist, you will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Exercise Medicine Service. Working under the supervision of the Physiotherapist (Exercise Clinic Lead), you will guide patients through prescribed, evidence-based exercise programmes as part of their cancer treatment.
You’ll be supporting people at a highly significant moment in their lives—helping them feel stronger, safer and more confident in their bodies through tailored movement. For instructors passionate about compassionate, high-quality care, this is a role with genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised exercise sessions (in-person and virtual) aligned with each patient’s treatment plan and health status.
- Support the smooth running of the clinic through daily coordination and scheduling.
- Provide patient-centred guidance that prioritises safety, motivation and wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with the Exercise Clinic Lead, clinical teams, and wellbeing partners.
- Contribute to ongoing service development and quality improvement.
Who This Role Suits
This position is ideal for CanRehab Level 4 Cancer Exercise Specialists or Level 3 PTs with substantial oncology experience who:
- are confident delivering exercise to people undergoing cancer treatment,
- excel in creating safe, supportive and encouraging environments,
- enjoy working within an integrated multidisciplinary team, and
- are motivated to develop their clinical practice and professional skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification (essential)
- Strong understanding of cancer and long-term conditions
- Excellent communication, empathy and organisational skills
- Level 4 Cancer Exercise qualifications (desirable, and strongly aligned with CanRehab training)
- Experience supporting people with cancer or long-term health conditions (desirable)
