Yorkshire Cancer Research is embarking on an exciting programme to transform and improve the survival and the quality of life of cancer patients.
Active Together is a multimodal pre-habilitation and rehabilitation service that has been developed by world-leading academics and practitioners at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) at Sheffield Hallam University and funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research.
The Active Together Programme is designed to prepare people with cancer for, and recover from, treatment quickly and to assist them to maintain healthy lifestyles after their cancer diagnosis. Further, the research evidence shows that exercise, part of the Active Together Service, can improve survival and quality of life of cancer patients.
“We will be delivering the Active Together programme through our new Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre at Hornbeam Park, Harrogate. The service will be open to patients in North Yorkshire and Leeds. We are currently looking for a Lead Fitness Instructor who will be responsible for establishing and delivering the physical activity component of the Active Together programme; training and managing a team of Personal Trainers who will deliver the Active Together service; supporting and advising on a range of fitness activities/services to develop and deliver a rehabilitation service for adults with a cancer diagnosis; working collaboratively to deliver a multidisciplinary, inclusive and responsive service, ensuring customer service excellence and responding to service user diversity.“
Applicants must have an appropriate and evidenced Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification and experience in delivering safe and effective exercise classes and individual exercise programmes to people living with cancer.
Salary: Circa. £32,887 per annum

GLL are looking for candidates who hold a recognised Level 3 qualification in exercise referral and have experience in delivering prescribed exercise to referred patients. Although not essential experience in building relationships with community and clinical partners to create referral pathways into the service would be desirable.
The job role will be based in GLL centres within our Welwyn and Hatfield Partnership. The candidate should have good local knowledge of the area and the ability to travel for meetings and community outreach as part of the role.
Salary: From £26,955 a year
